This mode requires a high level of concentration which can only be maintained for a limited amount of time. Interpreters therefore usually work in pairs and switch every 30 minutes.

The interpreter sits or stands next to one person or a small group and interprets directly to them.
A tour guide system is suitable for larger groups and noisy environments.
